Job Description
We are looking for skilled professionals responsible for welding metal components together to construct and maintain the structural framework of wind turbines, often working at significant heights on towers, requiring expertise in various welding techniques while adhering to strict safety protocols and quality standards to ensure the durability of the wind turbine in harsh weather conditions; key duties include preparing metal parts, following technical blueprints, performing welds on critical areas like tower sections, transition pieces, and foundations, and conducting thorough inspections to guarantee the integrity of the welds.
- Must have GWO Certification.
- Must be a Certified welder proficient in various welding techniques (MIG, TIG, etc.)
- Must be able to travel 100 %
Key responsibilities:
Welding operations:
- Use specialized welding equipment like MIG, TIG, or SAW to join metal components of wind turbine towers, blades, and support structures.
- Perform various types of welds including fillet welds, butt welds, and corner welds with precision.
- Follow detailed welding specifications and procedures to ensure quality welds.
Preparation and assembly:
- Prepare metal components by cleaning, grinding, and fitting them together accurately before welding.
- Position and align components using jigs and fixtures to maintain proper geometry.
- Perform tack welding to secure components temporarily before final welding.
Quality control:
- Conduct visual inspections of welds for defects like cracks, porosity, and improper penetration.
- Perform non-destructive testing (NDT) on welds as required to verify their integrity.
- Document welding activities and maintain detailed records of weld parameters.
Safety compliance:
- Adhere to strict safety procedures for working at heights, including proper use of fall protection equipment and safety harnesses.
- Follow all safety protocols regarding handling welding equipment, gases, and hazardous materials.
- Report any safety concerns immediately.
Required skills and qualifications:
Must have GWO Certification.
- Certified welder proficient in various welding techniques (MIG, TIG, etc.)
- Experience in industrial welding applications, preferably in heavy fabrication or construction
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and blueprints
- Strong mechanical aptitude and understanding of metal properties
- Excellent hand-eye coordination and dexterity
- Capability to work at significant heights and in confined spaces
- Physical fitness to perform demanding tasks in outdoor environments
