Mid Cal Labor is looking for a PROJECT MANAGER 

Temp to hire with possible Direct hire 

Pay ranges $75,000. to $95,000.




BASIC PURPOSE




Responsible for overall fabrication/production of multiple municipal and industrial projects including quality

control, adherence to timetable and control over costs/budget.




ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS




Ability to lead customer projects from hand-off by engineering through equipment delivery; including

developing detailed timeline schedule, project scope considerations, adherence to budget estimations and

risk mitigation/avoidance. Extensive knowledge in managing projects using internal and external resources,

effectively progressing toward overall project deadlines, and controlling costs compared to budgets. Handles

moderately complex issues and problems and refers more complex issues to higher-level staff.




Effectively manage both internal resources (project coordination/assistance, drafting, fabrication, and

welding) as well as external resources (vendors, suppliers and outside fab/welding). Ensure that all equipment

purchased and built for the project complies with project specifications. Assist with review of submittal and

fabrication drawings with Project and Fabrication teams to ensure accuracy, eliminate rework, and promote

ease of assembly. Addresses questions, concerns, and/or complaints throughout the project and acts as a

liaison between the Company, customers, engineers, and vendors. Keeps management informed of the status

of projects and promptly identifies and communicates any potential problems that may arise.




Leads, directs and trains 1-3 employees. Has some authority for personnel decisions related to hiring,

performance, or disciplinary actions. Performs work with limited supervision. Provides coaching, training

and/or mentoring to direct reports and fellow employees.

Typically requires a bachelor’s degree and 4-7 years of experience.




ADDITIONAL DUTIES AND RESPONSBILITIES




• Responsible for creating, maintaining, and reporting on overall project schedule using project

management tools such as Gannt charts.

• Ensure that all equipment purchased and built for the project complies with project specifications.

• Review and assist Design Engineer to ensure preparation of fabrication drawings that meet project

specifications and overall scope.

• Analyses project status and, when necessary, revise the scope, schedule, or budget to ensure that project

requirements can be met and report on project progress and/or risks to management.

• Facilitate change requests to ensure that all parties are informed of the impacts on schedule and

budget.

• Ensure compliance with federal, state, industry, contractual and Company regulations, specifications,

and best practices.

• Monitor quality assurance of manufactured and purchased product, including Factory Testing, if

required

• Oversee project closeout including: review of project quality control documents, evaluation of costs

compared to budget, and completion of project required documentation (including project work

tickets). Summarize post-project evaluation including any suggestions for improvements in the process.

• Confirm successful installation and operation of equipment and complete project close-out including

receipt of any project retention.




JOB SPECIFICATIONS




EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:

• Minimum Bachelor’s Degree, preferably in Project Management or Operations Management.

• Minimum 3 years in project management.

• Project Management Professional (PMP) Certification preferred.

• Authorization to work in the U.S. is a precondition of employment.

SPECIALIZED KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS:

• Must be proficient with Microsoft Office software and MS Project.

• Excellent time management skills and organizational skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines.

• Strong attention to details.

• Strong general technical knowledge and ability to learn.
